At 25 ounces, this selvedge denim sits at the extreme end of heavyweight jeans. The fabric is exceptionally dense, rigid and difficult to control, which is why very few factories are willing—or properly equipped—to produce denim of this weight.

Construction demands considerably more time and skill than ordinary jeans. At the waistband, belt loops, pocket corners, fly and other multi-layer sections, the denim can become too thick to feed directly through a sewing machine. These areas often need to be compressed and flattened with a hammer before they can be stitched. Needles break more easily, thread tension is harder to maintain, and every seam must be sewn slowly and precisely.

The fabric has been desized to remove excess starch while retaining the substantial structure and character of 25oz selvedge denim. It will still feel firm at first, gradually softening and conforming to the wearer through repeated use.

This is slow-fading denim. A fabric this heavy normally requires at least one year of consistent wear before its creases, stacks and high-contact areas begin to develop a truly personal character.

Please take a pair of your favorite jeans, lay them flat with the waist pulled tight. Then use a flexible tape measure laid from left to right and that’s your true size. For example, if you lay the tape measure from left to right and you get 16 inches, your actual waist measurement is 32 inches (16 X 2). So please order a size 32 waist.

· A good guideline is to wash jeans every 5-10 wears or so. If you wear your jeans for activities that cause sweating or heavy use, or if you live in a humid climate, you might need to wash them more frequently. Remember to wash jeans inside out can help preserve the color and minimize fading.

· Even though the jeans have been pre-washed, we recommend cold hand wash and air drying in the shade. Machine washing and sun exposure can cause unwanted fading, fabric distortion, or cracking on the leather patch—changes that are often hard to reverse without ironing. Gentle care helps your jeans age beautifully and develop their own unique character over time.
